Rice with mixed vegetables

 

3 tablespoon      tel (oil)

2 whole             taj (cloves)

1 stick              laving (cinnamon)

2                      bay leaves

 

1 medium          kaando (onion), chopped

½ teaspoon       garam masaalaa

1 teaspoon        aadu marchaa (minced ginger root & green chili)

1 ½ teaspoon    mithu (salt)

 

1 cup                chokhaa (rice)

2 cups              pani (water)

10 oz package   mixed vegetables, frozen

 

1.                   Heat oil in a pressure cooker, adding cloves, cinnamon and bay leaves.

2.                   Add onion, garam masaalaa, ginger, green chilies & salt

3.                   Wash rice and add to the oil.  Saute for 3 minutes.  Add water & mixed vegetables.

4.                   Seal the cooker, add weight, and cook until the cooker whistles.  Lower heat and cook for 2 minutes.  Turn off heat, wait for 10 minutes before opening.  Or, you just let it cook for about 8 minutes in an open pot, until the rice is cooked.

5.                   Serve with plain yogurt
