Massor Daal with Onions

 

¾ cup               masoor daal (red lentil)

4 cup                pani (water)

 

1 ½ teaspoon    mithu (salt)

½ teaspoon       marchu (cayenne pepper)

¾ teaspoon       hardar (turmeric)

 

2 ½ tablespoon  tel (oil)

2 small              kaandaa (onions), chopped into half rings

2                      tametaa (tomatoes), quartered

some                lilu marchu (green chili), chopped

some                kothmari (cilantro)

½ tablespoon     limbu (lemon juice)

 

1.                   Cook the masoor daal with water in a pressure cooker.  When cooked, add salt, cayenne pepper and turmeric.

2.                   Heat oil & sauté onions until brown. Add tomatoes and cook till the tomatoes are soft.

3.                   Pour the cooked daal onto the onions, adding the green chili, cilantro & lemon juice.  Cook on low heat for 15 to 20 minutes.
