Puran Poli (Flat bread with a sweet stuffing)
1 cup tuvare daal
2 cups pani (water)
¾ cup gol (jaggery or brown sugar)
1 teaspoon elchi (cardamom powder)
1. Boil the tuvare daal until it gets soft. Remove from heat and let cool.
2. Add jaggery & cardamom, mixing well. It should be quite stiff. Form into 1” balls.
3. Make dough for rotlis.
4. Roll out two rotli. Sandwich the sweet ball between the two rotlis, sealing off the edges. Roll out to a smooth larger rotli.
5. Cook each side of the puran poli on a heated skillet. Coat each with some clarified butter while still warm.
