Puran Poli (Flat bread with a sweet stuffing)

 

1 cup tuvare daal

2 cups pani (water)

 

cup gol (jaggery or brown sugar)

1 teaspoon elchi (cardamom powder)

 

1.       Boil the tuvare daal until it gets soft. Remove from heat and let cool.

2.       Add jaggery & cardamom, mixing well. It should be quite stiff. Form into 1 balls.

3.       Make dough for rotlis.

4.       Roll out two rotli. Sandwich the sweet ball between the two rotlis, sealing off the edges. Roll out to a smooth larger rotli.

5.       Cook each side of the puran poli on a heated skillet. Coat each with some clarified butter while still warm.
